MOUNT VERNON — Waterford and the Strobel Road area north of Greer seem to be two of the trouble spots for flash flooding from heavy rains, said Emergency Management Agency Director Mark Maxwell.

In those cases, it’s not usually a case of a stream spreading out past its banks, but a case of the tributaries and drainage ditches in low-lying areas being overwhelmed by the sudden influx of water.
Janet Lifer, whose home on Levering Road in Waterford was flooded Sunday evening, said “It’s not the creek coming up, it’s all the water coming off these fields.”
