Josh Morrison/News Since Amato’s Wood Fired Pizza has opened on Sandusky Street, traffic has increased on Belmont Avenue, where parking is allowed on one side. Police have been instructed to keep an eye on the street, watching for speeding and illegal parking.

MOUNT VERNON — The city has received a $91,000 check from the Ohio Bureau of Worker’s Compensation, Mayor Richard Mavis reported Friday.

The rebate was voted in April by the BWC due to “an improving safety climate, good fiscal management and better than expected investment returns.” The check represents 66 percent of the premium the city paid for the year ending June 30, 2016.
