Emergency response team back in action

The Community Emergency Response Team has been reactivated, Emergency Management Agency Director Mark Maxwell told the EMA board at its meeting Thursday, and the volunteers had their first official operation at the city’s Fourth of July celebration, helping police and firefighters by manning barricades for crowd and traffic control.

911 command center a success

Laura Webster, operations manager of 911, told county commissioners Thursday the Mobile Command Center manned by the tactical dispatch team made a successful debut at the July 4 fireworks at Ariel-Foundation Park.
Webster explained that the tactical dispatch team handled all emergency communications at the event, which in turn could be monitored by the main dispatch center.

MV man hit with four drug charges in seven months

A 19-year-old man who has racked up four felony cases in a little more than six months was arraigned Thursday in Knox County Common Pleas Court.

Timothy B. Carper, 19, Mount Vernon, appeared in court on a charge of aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony.
