MOUNT VERNON — Hard work and solid effort don’t always translate to wins.

But they can build better people down the road.

The Mount Vernon 10-under All-Stars Orange fell in the consolation round Wednesday to Guernsey County 10U, 20-1, on Wednesday at Phillips Park. But unlike many teams that lose by so much, the Yellow Jackets showed a spirit that couldn’t be taken away.
