MOUNT VERNON — Unlike most of his teammates, Zach Calbert has never been to the Little League state tournament.

But he did his part to get the team there.

Calbert smacked a pinch-hit home run during the first of two district championship games Sunday. Calbert’s team, the Mount Vernon 12-under All-Stars, defeated Cambridge in both games, 7-2 and 6-5, at Phillips Park to claim the District 5 title and claim one of 11 state berths.
