FREDERICKTOWN — The Fredericktown school board on Thursday closed out the books for fiscal year 2017, and ended the year on a positive note.

Treasurer Heather Darnold said income was higher than expected, largely due to open enrollment in and property tax receipts, while expenditures were lower than expected.

“Everyone helped with the budget,” she said, “from athletics to the prom and teachers keeping expenses down.”
