MOUNT VERNON — A Gambier man hasn’t given any information as to his whereabouts for three days as law enforcement sought him in connection with the murder of his cousin.

Kevin Remillard, 48, “hasn’t talked to anybody” since arriving at the jail Wednesday, Knox County Sheriff David Shaffer said Thursday afternoon.

Kevin’s cousin, Nick Remillard, 20, was found dead from a single gunshot wound at he and Kevin’s Gambier residence Sunday. Kevin was identified as a suspect in the murder Sunday night, but eluded search efforts until he turned himself in to the Mount Vernon Police Department Wednesday around 4 p.m.

Kevin is in an individual cell on suicide watch at the jail, Shaffer said, where he is checked on every 10 minutes.

Mount Vernon Municipal Court Judge John Thatcher set Kevin’s bond at $500,000 in a hearing Thursday.
