CENTERBURG — Leonard “Gorgeous” Dennison, 84, of Centerburg, died Monday afternoon, May 29, 2017, at Knox Community Hospital. He was born April 14, 1933, in Newark, New Jersey, to the late Leo and Esther (Weiner) Dennison.
Leonard didn’t know a stranger. He loved people and talking to them. He especially loved talking to people about the Bible. He was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses for over 27 years.
Leonard had many interests. Some of his loves were coffee, animals, auctions, the New York Yankees and a good cream soda. Out of all of these things though, Leonard loved his family and being with them the most. And although we are all saddened and will miss him, Leonard would tell us, “Don’t be sad. It’s just around the corner.”
Leonard is survived by his wife, Janice (Miller) Dennison; children, Lewis, Andrew, Allen (Sallynda), Mathieu (Kait), Dennis (Jaimi), Janna, Micah (Britney), Seth (Carly) and Jonathan (Mallory) Dennison. True to his word he never divulged which one was the ugly one. He is also survived by a brother, Saul (Ellen) Dennison; numerous grandchildren; and many friends.
In addition to his parents, Leonard was preceded in death by a brother, Phil Berman and a son, Billy.
The family will receive friends before and after the memorial service which is at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 17, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness, 189 Mansfield Road, Mount Vernon.
