MOUNT VERNON — Concerned community members gathered in the basement of the Public Library of Mount Vernon and Knox County to discuss community issues that were close to their heart on Wednesday night as part of the nationwide Big Table effort.

John Chidester, director of the library, moderated the event that was led by both Chidester and Erin Salva, event organizer for Knox County Action Network that co-sponsored the Big Table discussion.
The Big Table discussion was intended to spark a discussion with community members about strengths and weaknesses of the community and troubleshooting ideas on how those issues can be resolved or their impact reduced in the community. In the future, these initial talks could become a much more active part in taking care of community issues.
