Charles M. Shannon

MOUNT VERNON — A Franklin County man was arrested Thursday after being found in possession of more than three ounces of methamphetamines, according to a charge brought against him in Mount Vernon Municipal Court.

Charles M. Shannon, 40, is charged with aggravated trafficking in drugs, a second-degree felony.

According to court records, the charge stems from a traffic stop in Mount Vernon, April 27. A warrant to arrest states that Shannon was stopped by Mount Vernon Police for an obstructed license plate. After a sniff-search by a K-9 unit made a hit, the vehicle was searched and meth in the amount of 111 grams, or 3.9 ounces, was found.

Shannon appeared in court via video arraignment Friday from the Knox County Jail.
Municipal Court Judge John Thatcher scheduled the case for a preliminary hearing May 5.
