DANVILLE — Facing her first batter, Danville pitcher Shanna Mickley gave up a double to East Knox’s Lyndsey Gallwitz, who would eventually score.

No worries.

Mickley allowed just one more hit — a hard shot between short and third — but otherwise completely shut down East Knox’s vaunted offense in a 4-1 Danville victory over its biggest rival.

“Let’s be clear: The coaches need to take the boo-boo for that leadoff hit,” Danville coach Jill Lyons said. “We were kind of messing around a bit and we thought we had a different batter up. But, she buckled down.”
