MOUNT VERNON — A Knox County Sheriff’s deputy was cited in a two-vehicle crash Friday.

Wayne Noggle, 50, was cited for assured clear distance in the crash, which occurred in Mount Vernon at approximately 12:15 p.m. Noggle was driving a 2016 Ford Explorer patrol vehicle at the time of the crash.
Noggle is a sergeant with the sheriff’s office.

According to Mount Vernon Police reports, Noggle was eastbound on Mount Vernon Avenue and rear-ended a vehicle driven by Siegfried W. Harrison, 70, Mount Vernon. Harrison had stopped for a bicycle crossing the road at the time of the crash, according to reports.

No injuries were reported.

Sheriff’s Capt. Jay Sheffer said damage to the patrol vehicle is estimated at $4,848.23. Sheffer said there will be an internal investigation of the crash.

The charge against Noggle has been received by Mount Vernon Municipal Court this morning, a representative of the court said, but was not filed as of press time.
