MOUNT VERNON — The 2017 drag racing season at Pacemakers Dragway Park got underway on Saturday, despite threats from Mother Nature among other things.
Plumbing problems including a busted water line pushed back the start of racing at Pacemakers for two weeks. A driver hit a water line in the last race of 2016, and it took all winter to fix the damage.
“In Ohio, if you can get racing by May 1, you’re doing good,” Pacemakers owner Rod Zolman said. “We always say we’re going to start by April 1, but the reality is that if you’re going by May 1 you’re doing good.”
