FREDERICKTOWN — The Fredericktown Community Fire District is looking at bringing on paid firefighters to better improve daytime response times.

FCFD Chief Scott Mast said efforts to bring on paid firefighters is in the “preliminary stages.” Those firefighters would be part of a day shift, when most of the volunteer firefighters are at work. Mast said it is becoming difficult for firefighters to be released by their employers to go to fires while at work, and response times during the day are not where he would like them to be.
