MOUNT VERNON — The Kiwanis Club met March 13 and United Way Director Kelly Brenneman received a check for $3,000 from Kiwanis’ Young Children Priority One Chair Jennifer Gordona.

This check is for the continuing sponsorship of the Dolly Parton Library, which was started several years ago. The Kiwanis was one of the founding contributors to this program which provides books to children ages 0-5 years.

According to the Dolly Parton Imagination Library annual report, 103,334 books have been delivered to Knox County Children since June of 2010. The program is reaching 61 percent of Knox County families with children under the age of 5 (1,777 children received books in the month of December 2016).
