CENTERBURG — Do you want to know how to help when your child is a victim of a bully? Do want to know what to do and what not to do when your son or daughter comes to you for help?

To answer those questions, Centerburg High School is hosting a free anti-bullying workshop for all area parents on Thursday, at 7 p.m., in the Centerburg High School auditorium, 3782 Columbus Road, Centerburg.
Jim Bisenius, child and adolescent therapist and founder of Bully-Proofing Youth, will conduct the session.

He told the News that during the training parents will learn exactly how to help their son or daughter respond to verbal, physical and social exclusion styles of bullying. This will be taught with specific details that will maintain the “cool” of the targeted kid, and works even without any cooperation on the part of the kids who bully.

“Parents will learn exactly how to coach their son or daughter if they are being targeted to eliminate bullying and stop the dance that the agressive kids initiate,” Bisenius said. “This training will cover specific body-language, as well as how to take power back from the controlling kids who run the social groups.”
