MOUNT VERNON — When United Way Of Crawford County called Nancy Fauser to tell her she’d been selected as a finalist in a car giveaway to be held on Valentine’s Day in Mount Vernon, she thought it was some kind of hoax.

Fauser, who lives in Bucyrus, picked the winning key Tuesday night at Donley Ford that started a brand new 2017 Ford Escape, the grand prize in a United Way drawing. Anyone who donated $10 or more to United Way of Knox, Ashland, Crawford or Richland counties was automatically entered, said Katie Peterson, United Way of Knox County resource development coordinator. The finalists were drawn from individuals who gave between the start of United Way’s kick-off in September 2016 to Jan. 31.
