MOUNT VERNON — The Mount Vernon boys basketball team played a good first half to lead visiting Hilliard Darby in their nonconference game on Tuesday, but the Yellow Jackets lost the momentum with a two-point third quarter to fall, 43-37.

“Tonight was a disappointing night for us as a basketball team,” Mount Vernon head coach Nick Coon said.

“Coming off a nice road win this past Friday (over Lexington), we did not handle it properly and come out with the passion necessary for us to be successful, especially on the offensive end of the floor.”
