MOUNT VERNON — As they make their final preparations for sectionals, the Mount Vernon Yellow Jackets spent Tuesday warming up against a local team.
That local team turned into a bit more than a warm-up.
The Jackets topped the Highland Scots, 48-24, at Pleasant Street Elementary’s gymnasium, but the Scots got in a few blows of their own.
Highland won the two most intense bouts of the evening. Sean Dudgeon faced Mount Vernon’s Dylan Colopy in a battle of two top 132-pound grapplers in central Ohio. It was back and forth until Dudgeon spun Colopy over late in the second round. Colopy fought to keep his shoulders off the mat, but Dudgeon managed to get the pin when Colopy passed out during the struggle.
