MOUNT VERNON — There is still time for middle school and high school teams to register for STEMfest! Knox. The third annual event is being held in Mount Vernon on Feb. 25, and the registration deadline is Jan. 30.

STEMfest! Knox is a partnership among Knox County’s higher education institutions: Central Ohio Technical College, Kenyon College and Mount Vernon Nazarene University, The Works and SPI Spot. The event features middle and high school student teams competing in challenges focused on science, technology, engineering and math. The purpose of the event is to promote STEM activities and connect local industry, schools, parents and children.

Participating teams compete in the challenges and are judged by a panel of industry experts for a chance to win prizes and scholarships. This year’s challenge themes are in the areas of architectural engineering, biofuels and 3-D technology. The architectural engineering challenge is sponsored by COTC, Kenyon College is the sponsor of the biofuels challenge and 3-D technology is sponsored by MVNU.

The competition will be held at COTC’s Knox campus (Aerial Hall, 236 S. Main St., Mount Vernon), MVNU (Hunter Hall, 231 S. Main St., Mount Vernon) and Kenyon College (Wright Center, 400 S. Main St., Mount Vernon). Additional exhibits and hands on activities will be located in COTC and at SPI Spot (400 S. Main St., Mount Vernon).

Online registration is available at cotc.edu/Knox2017.
