DANVILLE — The Danville school board on Monday accepted a letter of retirement from superintendent Dan Harper, effective when his contract expires July 31, 2017.

The process by which the search for a new superintendent has not yet been finalized, Treasurer Mary Payne said, but the board will be accepting applications from interested parties. She said the forms should be available on the district website shortly.

Besides approving routine annual actions as it reorganized for the new year, the board elected Carolyn Addair as its president and David Dusthimer as vice president. Darrel Severns was appointed legislative liaison, Addair the Knox County Career Center representative and Paul Stover the student liaison.
