Virgil Shipley/News Work was underway Thursday in the dismantling of the Friendship Methodist Church on New Delaware Road in Liberty Township. The Mount Vernon Barn Co. is performing the work and attempting to repurpose as much of the material as possible. Once the building is down, the bell tower will be rebuilt and the bell, which was removed in May, will be reinstalled at ground level, according to Liberty Township Trustee Don Rine. A memorial plaque and dedication ceremony for the bell will be held at a later date.
