Knox Idol: Too close to call

For the first time ever, a Knox Idol final ended in a tie.

School spirit on display by cheerleaders

The 12th Annual Dan Emmett Cheerleading Competition added school spirit and a competitive flair to South Main Street on Thursday night as dozens of girls battled it out for first place.

Playing classic rock, blues and pop songs, they kept the crowd moving and grooving in their chairs. The festival continues in downtown Mount Vernon through Sunday including Saturday’s headliner Lee Greenwood.
