MOUNT VERNON — One team, one goal.

Jonathan Brown began preaching that motto in 2006. That year, under Brown’s leadership, the Mount Vernon wrestling team went on to finish fourth in the state.
Brown, who molded the Yellow Jackets into a state dynasty for over 20 years, died Wednesday in a car accident in West Virginia. He was 53.

Brown was the chair of the math department and a math teacher at Mount Vernon High School. But many knew him as the longtime Mount Vernon wrestling coach. Still others knew him as a friend.
