MOUNT VERNON — Over 80 entries were geared up and ready to entertain a packed crowd that lined Howard Street, South Main Street and Public Square to usher in the start of the Christmas season and of course, the arrival of Santa Claus.

From the familiar Peanuts characters to what could be dubbed as the largest Family Circus, parade participants molded the theme, “Comic Strip Christmas” into their entries.

Kids of all ages enjoy Walk

MOUNT VERNON — A perfect crisp, sunny fall day attracted loads of people to the downtown area Sunday for the annual Heritage Centre Association Christmas Walk and Parade.
Many of those were children, already excited about the holiday season. Those young enough were excited about seeing Santa, and all had fun with the many activities available.

Lines formed of kids waiting to ride the train around Public Square, and also for the carousel and the pony ride.
