CENTERBURG — For two schools just seven miles apart, there’s not a lot of recent history between the Highland and Centerburg football programs. In fact, the teams haven’t squared off since the mid-1980s.
For a first meeting in almost 30 years, there’s an awful lot riding on this Friday’s game.
First, there’s bragging rights for the neighbors and families that are associated with the two programs. Second, the Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference Blue Division title is on the line. And third, a trip to the playoffs for both teams and possibly a home playoff game for the Trojans.
And that’s not taking into accout the fact the coaches have a long history as well.
This week’s Killbuck Savings Bank/Mount Vernon News Game of the Week should be one for the ages when the two teams battle at Centerburg beginning at 7 p.m.
