SPARTA — It was a good thing that the Highland Scots’ first opponent in the 2013 sectionals was the lowest seed in the Central District.
Otherwise, the postseason journey for the Scots could have come to an abrupt halt.
The volleyball team faced a familiar foe in Mount Gilead on Wednesday. The Scots had dominated the Indians twice this season, but Wednesday’s encounter was (almost) enough to have the hometown fans worried. Highland managed to win in straight sets, 25-9, 25-12, 25-19, but it was far from one-sided.
