MOUNT VERNON — It was the entire 2013 season of Mount Vernon Yellow Jackets volleyball in one frustrating loss.
Fans were treated to some excellent team play once the Jackets took charge, grabbing a 2-1 lead against Ohio Capital Conference rival New Albany. They also saw the Jackets come out flat at the beginning and collapse in the final two sets.
Mount Vernon eventually lost to the Eagles, 25-19, 19-25, 17-25, 25-9, 15-6, at The Hive on Tuesday evening.
“We’ve been like that all year,” said Mount Vernon head coach Alan Cassell. “We have good segments, and then we have three or four bad points in a row and it kind of kills us.”
New Albany grabbed the first set lead and sailed through with some nice serving from Maddy Largent and Ally Vendetti. After winning the first set, it looked like more of the same from the Eagles as Kayla Morlan hit some scoring shots to take a 9-6 lead.
