DANVILLE — The Danville Blue Devils may be young, but they are not using that as an excuse. The visiting Ridgewood Generals marched into town and the Blue Devils gave them a fight. The Generals swept Danville in their nonconference volleyball match, 25-15, 25-18, 25-14, but it was no cakewalk.
“Tonight was one of the best teams we have seen so far,” said Danville coach Ann Henry. “They are, by far, the fastest team we have taken on the entire season. Ridgewood had some good players and they were ready to go. I feel like we hung with them, but they just came out on top.”
Ridgewood’s speed was a big test for the Blue Devils, who managed to make some rapid adjustments in the opening set. They drew as close as 12-10 before the Generals went on a 13-5 run to take the first set.
