MOUNT VERNON — Following the success of Bracket Busters during the NCAA basketball tournament, the Mount Vernon News will offer readers a weekly opportunity to test their intellect and instinct during the NFL season.
Starting today, Power Points, The Ultimate Football Contest will kickoff the professional football season providing readers the opportunity to win a weekly local prize of $100 and possibly a $1,000 prize from a national pool.
Each week, readers will not only select the winner of each game, but they will be required to rank the confidence of their choices. The goal of Power Points is to accumulate the most number of points possible based on the confidence ranking of the week’s winning teams. Entries will also require tiebreaker predictions including the total score for a selected game as well as the total offensive yards in the same game.
Only one entry is permitted per week.
This game is not limited to just adults, the game is open to football fans ages 8 and up.
Once the entry form is complete, participants can drop the form off at any of the participating sponsors: The Parkside Restaurant & Tavern, Valley ATV, Pond Tire, Domino’s, Mid Ohio Yamaha, Danville Outdoors, The Bad Apple Pub, Danville Feed & Supply, Flappers Bar & Grille and Herald’s Appliances & Electronics. Entries are due by 2 p.m. on Thursday each week.
A new game form will be published every Monday throughout the contest.
For this week’s entry and the official rules, see Page 9 of today’s News.
