HOWARD — If you get an opportunity to watch Danville freshman golfer Brayden Baldridge play golf, don’t blink. You might just miss something.
He had one of those moments on the 13th hole during Thursday’s Mid-Buckeye Conference tournament at Apple Valley Golf Club.
Eventually, Baldridge would finish his round with a 2-over par 74 to lead the Blue Devils to first place with a team score of 344. Loudonville was second with 441 and Mansfield Christian (486) was third.
Despite the fact that Apple Valley has been Baldridge’s home course for a decade, the 14-year-old had a rough go on the front nine. Rough for him, that is. He shot a 39 on the first half of the course, bogeying holes four, five and six. Later, he bogeyed the 11th to go 4-over par. Things slipped a little more when the usually accurate Baldridge was wide right on a chip shot onto the green, paring the 12th hole. Then, he stepped up to the tee on the 227-yard 13th and landed his ball in the bunker right in front of the green.
That was when one of those moments happened.
