MOUNT VERNON — It was a solid effort by the Mount Vernon Yellow Jackets on Wednesday. But their final game of the regular season fell a little short.

The Jackets had nine hits on Wednesday and were the beneficiary of four errors, yet they could score only three runs. New Albany, meanwhile, used timely hitting to come away with a 5-3 Ohio Capital Conference victory.

The loss ended Mount Vernon’s three-game winning streak.
