Central Ohio communities saw stellar play this season from its high school baseball student-athletes. Local teams had four athletes named to All-Ohio first teams.
Mount Vernon’s junior third baseman, Konner Daughriety, was selected to the All-Ohio Division I first team by the Ohio High School Baseball Coaches Association. Daughriety, the Ohio Cardinal Conference Player of the Year, led the Yellow Jackets to a runner-up finish behind three-time reigning OCC champ Wooster. Daughriety batted .512 with 10 doubles, five triples and five home runs this spring. He knocked in 36 runs, scored 30 runs and was a perfect 10-for-10 on stolen base attempts.
Daughriety also received first team status from Ohio’s fan vote, ScorebookLive. He and Bryar Householder of East Knox were selected as all-star third basemen chosen by fan vote.
In All-Ohio Division III honors, Brady Lester, outfield, Fredericktown and Kaid Carpenter, utility, Fredericktown, made first team. In Division IV, Northmor’s Drew Hammond (third base) was selected first team, and fellow Golden Knight Grant Bentley (utility) gained second team honors.
